About Us

Dr Alexandra Rees BSc (Vet. Biol.) DVM MANZCVS (Eq. Dent.) opened Cape Equine Veterinary Services in 2022 to provide the best in evidence-based, compassionate veterinary care to horses and their owners across the south-west region of WA.

Following her graduation from Murdoch University in 2018, Alex commenced her career at a prestigious referral hospital specialising in equine lameness, medicine and surgery in California, USA.

It was here that she first experienced what it was like to be a part of a practice that offered their clients the latest in evidence-based medicine, whilst still being compassionate towards each clients’ individual circumstances.

Since returning to Australia, Alex has worked at some of the most well-regarded equine practices across Western Australia, and has pursued advanced training in a number of specialties within the scope of equine veterinary practice. Her special interests include advanced equine veterinary dentistry, lameness, rehabilitation, and equine osteopathy.

Alex is also an ambassador for the Australia Alopecia Areata Foundation (AAAF) and helps to support others like her that have the autoimmune condition causing partial or complete hair loss.
